Hi all,

The barrel from the lock of the driver's door has come out with my key a few days ago. My local garage is telling me that I'd need to replace the lock, it is broken.

Now I amust admit I am not too familiar with replacing locks on a Mini...

Could you help me out with the following

Do you know what replacement parts I need by any chance? I can still lock the door from the inside and the "button" I press when opening the door works ok, it's just that the barrel is loose and I can't connect it anymore to the locking meachnism of the door handle.

Could you also roughly describe what I need to do?

It's an L reg Mini Sprite...

Many thanks, much appreciated!

Cheers,

Stevo

its quite astraight forword job to do

you can just replace the barrel/lock you will need some curclip pliers, but you will have to take the door handle of to do it and can be a bit fidley

to take the door handle of remove all the interia door furniture, then the door card. loosen the door catch on the side of the door so you can get to the screw under it, reachinto the door and undo the to screws holding the handle on, and remove the mechanism atached the back of the handle, the take the handle of, use curclip plier to get the lock out then refit

hope this make sense

or come to the next club meet and ill talk you though it or do it with you, if you take it to a garage it will probably cost an hours labour £40.00 pluss if your lucky

The best bet is to join a Mini club and get lots of free help with jobs like that.  smile

Thanks for the explanations guys!

I might come along to one of your meetings / become member. I couldn't find anything in the calendar, but I'll keep an eye on the forum...

The thing is, I think so far I have simply enjoyed driving around in the Mini, but recently it's demanding more attention lol So I should start getting the screwdrivers out!!

Cheers,

Stevo
